There are an overwhelming number of "business journals" online, covering everything from startup to marketing to daily operations, and it's possible to lose an entire day jumping from one article to the next! These are a few of the sites that we have consistently found useful, either because they are concise in putting new articles where they can be skimmed easily, or due to their "searchability" when looking for a specific topic.
Small Business Brief is a very friendly site that includes a forum, a library of articles, and blogs. I check this one almost daily, because it also includes some great links to marketing topics. One of my favorites!
Inc.com has a lot of great articles that are searchable by topic, author, department or resource center (i.e. "one-person business")
Entrepreneur.com is also broken down into a variety of categories that makes it easy to browse, and includes an encyclopedia of business terms, and downloadable free forms that can be customized.
AllBusiness.com includes browsing by industry as well as by topic, and also contains an extensive listing (almost 700) of business periodicals, many of which are industry-specific.
The Tampa Bay Business Journal contains articles specific to this area, as well as to the nation in general, and links to various other directories.
Florida Trend provides articles about the state's economic environment, plus links to other resources such as the Florida Small Business Guide for Entrepreneurs, which includes a start-up guide and information about the different state departments involved with business.
MyBusiness Magazine is produced for the members of the National Federation of Independent Business. In addition to the articles that actually appear in print, the companion website includes links to other news and features. The site is searchable by keyword or can be browsed by category.
The Wall Street Journal of course has a wealth of articles about business, and there is also a companion site, Startup Journal, that relates more specifically to entrepreneurship, with categories such as "Financing," "Franchising," and "Running a Business."
CCH Tax and Accounting, who provides a variety of legal and tax information and software, cover a lot of topics on their Business Owners Toolkit, including model business documents and checklists.
